Hang on a minute, what is an Activist?
An activist is a volunteer who donates their time and energy to coordinate and stage a NZ Book Month event in their local community.
Each year NZ Book Month thrives on the efforts of book activists up and down the country. We support them to create events that get New Zealanders reading, talking and celebrating books.
In 2013 we’re changing how we run our Community Events programme
In 2013 the organisers of our Community Events programme will be matched with New Zealand authors. Once you’re registered as an Activist
let us know that you’re keen to organise an event.
There are two ways to get involved:
- Hold an author event in your community:
We are currently working with publishers to create a list of authors who can tour the length and breadth of the country and will come back to you to chat further about what might be possible in your community in 2013. Please let us know about your plans for this.
- As an author organise your own event/tour/festival.
We will continue to support authors who want to tour the length and breadth of the country. In the past our author activists have staged highly successful events in schools, libraries and book stores. Please let us know about your plans for this.
