Four prizes have been won by New Zealand Book Month in the United States Pro Awards, one of the most prestigious international marketing and promotional awards.
This follows hard on the heels of NZ Book Month winning gold in the TVNZ/New Zealand Marketing Association Awards.
The four awards won were:
• Gold for Best Promotion Under $US250,000
• Silver for Best Incentive Campaign
• Silver for Best Use of a Promotion Campaign Executed Outside the US
• Honourable Mention for Best Cause-Based Promotion
The Pro Awards, sponsored by Chicago-based Promo Magazine, noted in their on-line broadcasts that 4 wins was “quite an achievement,” and that “with nearly 100,000 $5 book vouchers redeemed, this was one of the biggest cause-related promotions ever put together.”
The PRMO Awards “are the most prestigious promotion marketing awards program in the world and recognize the best promotional marketing around,” said Mary Robbins, Chair of New Zealand Book Month Board.
“We are highly delighted and it is a great achievement for all the professionals and volunteers who put so much effort into Book Month each year.
“In particular, our sponsors and the many industry-supporters of Book Month, should be pleased. Book Month was awarded gold in competition with companies such as Kraft, 7-11, Proctor & Gamble and Coca-Cola.”
Ad agency Rapport Advertising and Marketing developed all creative advertising, point-of-sale and TV, radio etc for the campaign, including its theme, “Books Change Lives”.
Hamish Wright Chairman of the Book Trade Liaison Committee, incorporating publishers and booksellers as key trade supporters of the Book Change Lives Campaign, said “ the Pro Magazine and TVNZ Awards recognised, not just the creative elements of the campaign but also highlighted the huge success book month had been in 2011.
“We are particularly grateful to Book Month Project Director, Nikki Crowther who did a fantastic job in establishing the structure and format of the $20 million Books Change Lives voucher scheme which was such a success.”
