With assistance from Christchurch Creative Communities
The Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Society of Authors (NZSA) is to hold a short story competition to bring alive the story of Canterbury before the start of the 20th Century.
While entrants stories can be set later than this period, its content or impetus must come from this earlier period, and may be fictitious or based on fact.
One of the criteria for the short story is that it is based on careful research of the period.
Criteria
Short stories should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. Entry is open to all who have had an association with Canterbury whether as a resident, student or long-term visitor.
All short stories entered are the original work of the writer and must be previously unpublished.
